Lunch Menus

Our school meals are very healthy and nutritious and prove to be popular with pupils.  On occasion we have themed lunch days and dates for these are sent out in advance giving all the children the opportunity to stay.

The cost of a nutritious meal is £2.70 per day, providing a main meal, desert, salad, bread and a drink. This proves value for money when you consider how much a packed lunch can cost to put together.

Staying for lunch is, of course, optional and we recognise that parents / carers may decide for their child to stay only on occasional days.  This is fine; all we ask is that you make payment for school dinners on parent pay.

All Pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 are entitled to a universal free school meal.

School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme

You may have heard about the Government's School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme.  Under the scheme, each child in nursery to year 2 in Local Authority maintained schools is entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day.  The initiative behind the scheme is to encourage children to eat more fruit/vegetables and help towards their 5-a-day, with the focus being on reducing obesity and reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers.  It is hoped that by educating the children of the benefits of healthy eating, they will continue to eat healthily in the future.

I am delighted that our school has been given the opportunity to participate in this exciting scheme, which reinforces our commitment to healthy eating.  Your child will be offered a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day during break.  The fruit and vegetables will be fresh and of good quality.  The aim is for the children to have a positive and enjoyable experience of fruit and vegetables.

The scheme is voluntary and, although there is no obligation for your child to take part, I hope you will share my belief that it has many benefits.  It is a great way to help us teach our children the benefits of healthy eating.  If you do not wish your child to participate in the scheme, you must let us know as soon as possible. It is essential that you inform us of any allergies your child may have so that we can ensure they are not given anything that might harm them.

Free School Milk Provision

Children who are below the age of 5 years are entitled to free school milk.  This is full fat milk which has been provided as part of the healthy school options.  To help us in class we ask parents to identify if they wish their child to take up this free provision and a form will be sent out in new starter packs for parents to complete.
